CRICKET DESMARAIS Cricket desmarais is an award-winning writer, certified U.S. Coast Guard master captain, image collector & performance artist.  An M.F.A. creative writing graduate from N.Y.U., she transforms her talents & passions into coastal & cultural anthropology, exploring with & assisting marine-based businesses & outreach programs while writing & documenting human interest stories for local & national publications.  She is the creative director of agent Sea studios, a marketing & consulting firm for island businesses & lifestyles.  While in Key West, she edits the secret of salt: an indigenous journal,  teaches writing & dance workshops at the CoffeeMill Dance Studio, The Studios of Key West & the Coffee Plantation, directs house blend dance, a performance art group, performs in local theatre houses & posts www.loveontherocktalk.com, a weekly online singles humor column based on dating & relating in the Florida Keys.  She is currently creating a dance film project & completing a historic novel & a book about the 101 uses of coconut oil.

Cricket Desmarais invites all 8 - 12th graders to endulge in a few hours of writing poetry. This workshop will feature spontaneous writing exercises that help you delve deeper into your creativeness and generate new material.
